*** This is my 503rd Photo-Blog Post! I began my Photo-Blog in April 2005! I was going to mention my 500th Blog Post – but I got carried away with posting and blazed right by it: I’m hearing bells – Ding-Dong-Ding-Dong… Not that this is at all important, but I was hoping to be over 100,000 views by my 500th post, but I am a little short on views to make that goal: I’m at 99,582 views.

I just hope that my photography ‘speaks’ to people, at least in some small way.

Thank you for visiting my photo-blog: I appreciate your seeing my art photography.

I’m having a ‘Poe-Morning.’ Argh………………..

“Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before.”
~ Edgar Allan Poe ~

[Archival Prints and Canvas Art of this work can be purchased at my Imagekind Fine Art Sales Gallery! Please Click the Image to go to there! Thanks!]

Why is being an Artist so damned difficult? I can answer that: because in any economy, it is mostly discretionary funds that purchase artwork, isn’t it! Yes… And, in poor economies, most people have even less, or no discretionary funds. So, the golden question for artists is, “How do I produce sales?” Ah-Ha! Yes, that is the key question.

One answer to this golden question is that artists need to be better sales people, right!

However, if you are shy, or think that you can’t sale, then that is going to be a difficult slog for you. As an economic sector – having that sort of belief will be difficult for the entire sector.

We must give consumers the idea, and convince them that art has value, not only economic, but cultural value! Art also has aesthetic value!

So, you don’t have an Artist’s Representative; You are NOT represented by any Galleries, or Museums; and you do NOT have the ancient, yet trusty, Medici patron…what do you do?

Yeah, great question, and great mystery. If you can find the answer to that question, then you solve the great mystery too.

I suggest that a few like-minded artists (of various types at various stages of experience and success) form Master-Mind Groups. The group gets together physically or virtually once a week, or more or less, and we share tips, tricks, suggestions, moral support, shoulders to cry on, and we hold each one accountable for what we say we are going to do.

I’ve never been a member of a Master Mind group, but maybe I need to be. Being an artist is an incredibly difficult life for 99% of us. Let’s face it, we are not all going to be as well-known and successful as Rembrandt, or Goya, or Joe McNally, or Douglas Kirkland, or Yousuf Karsh:  We may WISH TO BE LIKE these ‘successful’ artists/photographers, but wishing something were true, only makes it a Fantasy…Fantasies usually are smoke and mirrors – vapor. This is reality. This is life. Life is hard for most of us. Most of us were NOT born into the Heinz® Ketchup Family! Therefore, we have to slog away and find time to be creative around all the things, the obstacles called LIFE, that wants to throw a monkey into the wrench, a fly in the ointment, a pain-in-the-ass!

So, like I said, I’m having a major, major, major DARK, DARKEST OF THE WHITE-DARK NINJA MORNINGS:  It’s like the inside of a coffin on a moonless night – that kind of dark.

“Another Day Dawns.
A Toad Sings Dark Gloom.
The Sky Overhead Turns Black.
The Air is Still.
The Sound of Chaos Fills My Brain.
No Room to Rest.
Nightmares Continue with Eyes Wide Open.
Where is the Sun, it is a Distant Memory.
Hard Rains Down Drops Like Bullets.
I Watch the Toad – At Least He’s Happy.”
~ Me – 17 Aug 2013 ~

Yes, it is a Jim Morrison morning.

We all have mornings of insecurity…don’t we.  I do.

So…I have to convince myself (often) that I have purpose, talent, something that can be shared with other people so that it may be helpful, or beautiful, or awakening, or alerting, or shocking, or uplifting, or mind-bending, or insightful, or thoughtful, which I can share with others.  I have to remind myself that I have a vision that is worth sharing with others and that is why I continue on this path, no matter how DARK it seems.  I know there is some light out there, even though some days it is overcast.  All cloudy days eventually clear and the sun shines down, once again.

FOOTSTEPS IN THE SAND, OFF WORLD – ALIEN LANDSCAPES

SCI-FI ART PHOTOGRAPHY – FOOTSTEPS IN THE SAND, OFF WORLD – ALIEN LANDSCAPES

Title: "FOOTSTEPS IN THE SAND, v3, Edit F." Series: OFF WORLD - ALIEN LANDSCAPES. Series History: 2001 to Present (On-Going). The question I always want to ask myself when I look at this art piece is this: "Who made these footprints in the sand?" Then, I'm led to the question: "Where is this?" Because this is part of my "OFF WORLD - ALIEN LANDSCAPES" Photographic Art Series, then, I ask myself, "The footprints appear human-like, but this is somewhere else...some other planet, so what do these people, aliens...creatures really look like?" "Is this a beach, or is this some rocky desert-planet that has been abandoned by its inhabitants?" Of course, I am asking that you use your imagination, and that requires you to ask questions for yourself about what you see.
