A Note about this Artwork:
Abstract Expressionism is about feelings of expression. As it has been said, Abstract Expressionism is about liberating colours from ‘things’ with the main focus being the intense feelings of the artist being thrown down onto the canvas (or paper, etc.) when it is created. If this is the case, then, so far in all my paintings, this one really captures my internal feelings during this time in my life. An Abstract Expressionist Painter / Artist / Photographer, cannot hide their feelings if they are being true to their artwork, that is my opinion – some, or many may disagree. I worked on this for a couple of days with each layer suggesting that it was not complete. So, when inspired, I added the next layer of feelings to the paper. Eventually, at about 3AM last night, I finished the final layer, knowing that it was the final layer – the final feeling – the final exposure.
The title says it all, sorry to say (and sorry that with my artwork, I have been ‘exposed’ with the true nature of my current ‘state’, and current chaos of feelings).
If I were to hide this painting from the world, then I could hide my feelings too. However, I think this is one of my truest and most honest paintings…ever. How can I not share it with the world. The consequence is that I expose myself for my true inner feelings.
I do have hope, yes, there is always hope; nevertheless, hope as you can see is buried very deeply under the blackness of despair and the redness of stress.
