*Notes: I thought I was reaping good…good-will…hard-work…suffering arthritis for 35-years, but still falling on my face and moving forward while attempting to help others before myself; asking for fewer trials and tribulations from the power of the Universe; asking for guidance and relief. Well, I’m not sure, but the answer I got was more disaster and more problems, more headaches, so stressed out I sleep at 2AM and my sleep is so f’ed up, I just get up at 3:30AM, or 4AM, if I’m lucky, because sleep is useless. If Earl Nightingale is correct, and we become what we think about most of the time; then WOW, maybe he is RIGHT! Thanks Earl! I painted this mysterious, gloomy, abstract painting, two days before (today), and receiving more horrific work news from another contract I’ve had for 15-years! I think that IF there were an asteroid the size of a marble that survived entry through our outer levels of atmosphere, it would probably hit me in the head and pulverize me in a blazing inferno, and then I’d turn to dust like Daffy Duck does when he gets ‘blown to smithereens’ in so many episodes of the cartoons. Well, thanks so much once again to my awesome luck! (Being and feeling VERY Sarcastic at the moment). I won’t even suggest, “So, what the F’ Next?” Because, I don’t think I can take much more of this!

My main influence is Jackson Pollock.

This work is about chaos: and it is probably the most expressive work of my feelings to this very date.

There are certain words and phrases that express my feelings and are shown in this work, they include: ‘lost’, ‘entanglement’, ‘trapped’, ‘shrouded’, ‘forgotten’, ‘chaos-overbearing’, ‘pain’, ‘a web so thick it hides me’, ‘tolerated but only by a thread’, ‘looked-over’, ‘invisible’, ‘stuck’, ‘is it all in my mind’, ‘am I the cause’, ‘is my perception of reality the thing that is really f’ed up!, ‘no-one really cares to understand me’, ‘untouchable’, ‘unforgivable’, ‘totally forgettable’, ‘not fitting in’, and ‘it’s between me and God at this point!’

The Abstract Expressionists were a group of brilliant artists, but many were on the extremes of one obsession or another, and many were very unhappy: I’m not saying that all of the Abstract Expressionists were unhappy, but there were some tragic episodes that happened within the group, namely, Rothko, Gorky, Pollock (Existential Suicide), and Resnick. 50% of the group (the famous NEW YORK SCHOOL) ,seven of the 15, were dead before the age of 60. “Depression may have put these artists in touch with the inexplicable mystery that lies at the heart of the “tragic and timeless” art that the Abstract Expressionists aspired to produce.”

This work is a combination of painting and photography, which is the case with most (many) of my recent works.

This genre of work is deep. It is about the human condition. It is about the soul at its core. It will not appeal to everyone.

Fashion and beautiful women seem to capture the eyes of most people, and anyone can clearly see that at FB, Flickr, or on any other photo-sharing website: All you need to do to see what appeals to visitors of photo-sharing websites is just start counting the number of “Likes” and “Comments” and it becomes very clear what subjects seem to be the favourites, and what people visiting these sites seem to believe makes for ‘good’ photography, or artwork.  It is a ‘perception-thing’, but of course!

However, this is not about Fashion, people-beauty, nature-beauty, or about ‘the surface’ — this work goes beyond the surface — the work of the Abstract Expressionists was not about “the now” so much as it was about “the forever” — conditions that will affect mankind throughout the ages, and expressing those deepest feelings through art.

I guess that is my Art Lesson for the day on “Abstract Expressionism”, and in a way, a lesson about my latest collection of work, the ABSTRACT PAINTED PHOTOGRAPHIC ART.

Abstract 17 April 2014, #3, Edit C

The above link goes to my Print Sales Page at SAATCHI.  Because WP is being a total bastard today and not allowing me to upload jpg or png photos, I’m not sure you will get to see this artwork unless you follow that link above.  The Universe is conspiring against me once again – but I’ll give it one more try to see what happens…

Here are a few quotes that fit my mood today!

“There comes a time when you have to stand up and shout:
This is me damn it! I look the way I look, think the way I think, feel the way I feel, love the way I love! I am a whole complex package. Take me… or leave me. Accept me – or walk away! Do not try to make me feel like less of a person, just because I don’t fit your idea of who I should be and don’t try to change me to fit your mold. If I need to change, I alone will make that decision.
When you are strong enough to love yourself 100%, good and bad – you will be amazed at the opportunities that life presents you.”

You see, and I know some of you see, this is me, DAMN IT!  I’m sick of trying to fit into a place where I have no history – I’m who I am.

I’m made up of ancestors from Great Britain, from the Historic Brereton Clan – my ancestral Grandfather’s name is mentioned in the DOMESDAY Book [Published 1086] (spelled as “Bretone”); and my ancestors were Knights who fought alongside William the Conqueror at the Battle of Hastings (1066 AD).  As reward for services rendered the Brereton ancestor(s) who fought with William were given lands – that is where Brereton Manor came from, which is located near the village of Brereton Green, in Cheshire, England.

Brereton Manor – Cheshire, England.

I am also a Lambertson:  My 12th generation, Great Grandfather Lambertson arrived in the America’s before 1630 AD, and first settled in Accomac Shire, Virginia.  Eventually, they moved to, and around Snow Hill, Maryland.  “Snow Hill is a town in and the county seat of Worcester County, Maryland, United States.” (Source: Wikipedia).  My Great Ancestral Grandfather, Levi Lambertson served in the Maryland Militia, and fought against the British during the American Revolutionary War (which lasted from 1775–1783).

I am also a SHADE – from the SHADE Clan.  My Great Ancestral Grandfather Andreas Shade, was from Tulpehocken Township, which is a township in Berks County, Pennsylvania, United States.  (Source:  https://smokephotographist.wordpress.com/tag/shade-family-lambertson-family-preserving-family-photo-record-nawfals-family-line-andreas-shade-mary-m-shade-william-monroe-lambertson-revolutionary-war-veteran-andreas-shade-houses/ )

Andreas also performed Patriot Service during the American Revolutionary War.

Two of Andreas’ original houses still stand today – These houses were built with his own hands:

He used this house while he built [a] large log house on [the] same property. From Rt 25 in Gratz take road to Erdman N., 3mi to Fearnot Rd then turn R(east) 2mi to house at #624- or – from Sacto Rt 25 take Fearnot Rd at St. Pauls Church, [and then] turn west (3mi) to #624.” (Source: http://www.bergergirls.com/getperson.php?personID=I005923&tree=Strausstown# )

Photo Description Citation: “Built on land purchased by Andreas in 1753, this is most likely the house Andreas built. It is less than a mile north of the house on Schaefferstown Rd. which was built on land purchased by Andreas in 1767.”

And, that’s only three of my Great Ancestral Families – part of the gene pool that made me who I am.  That is who I am: A mixture of these families who have histories, and some of them very famous histories.

I’ve never been one to fit in that well; and, coming from a different culture, ancestry, country, and all of that, makes it more difficult, I believe, to fit into another culture, country, region, etc.

I’m just feeling like I’ve had my molecules splattered in a Star Trek Transporter malfunction.

What am I doing?  Where do I go from here?  Where’s the reciprocity?  Why all the greed in this world where  so many people rather think only of themselves because they believe they will loose something if they are not first, or if they dare share something, or share an opportunity with others – it is that Kiasu attitude, for which I hate very much – and I do NOT hate very many things: However, I despise the Kiasu mentality.

Kiasu defined:  “Kiasu comes from the vernacular Chinese word 怕输, meaning ‘fear of losing’. It is used by Hokkien-speaking people in Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan and has been introduced into the English language by speakers of colloquial Singaporean English. It is often used to refer to anxious, selfish behaviour characterised by a fear of missing out.”

I highly respect the Samurai Bushido Code.  About Justice, the Bushido Code states:  “Bushido refers not only to martial rectitude, but to personal rectitude: Rectitude or Justice, is the strongest virtue of Bushido. A well-known samurai defines it this way: ‘Rectitude is one’s power to decide upon a course of conduct in accordance with reason, without wavering; to die when to die is right, to strike when to strike is right.’ Another speaks of it in the following terms: ‘Rectitude is the bone that gives firmness and stature. Without bones the head cannot rest on top of the spine, nor hands move nor feet stand. So without Rectitude neither talent nor learning can make the human frame into a samurai.’” ( Source:  http://www.artofmanliness.com/2008/09/14/the-bushido-code-the-eight-virtues-of-the-samurai/ )

There are eight codes of Bushido, for which I will not mention the rest at this time.  I will mention the 6th Code – Honor:  “‘True patience means bearing the unbearable.’ ”  That is something that I need to work on – and I am experiencing that at this moment.

I have to go now – I am attempting to bear the unbearable.

Later, my friends…
