It is very important to have your photo library images in good order, especially if you are a Photographer under contract with a Rights Managed Photo Library, like I am, with .

  1. As a Photographer under contract, you have several obligations to uphold. You will have a specific number of photos you will need to submit per specific time: Basically, you just need to be active with your submissions.
  2. You will need to keep track of your Accepted and Rejected Photographs: That is the reason for using a good File Manager, I use the X-plore (see below) file manager.
  3. You need to make sure not to submit photographs to your Stock Library that have already been rejected! That is another reason to use the File Management App—you need a separate folder titled “REJECTED Photographs”. TAKE SCREENSHOTS of all Accepted and Rejected Photographs and move the screenshots into the appropriate folders.
  4. If the Photo Library you have a contract with, rejects photos, then you are usually allowed to submit those images to other Photo Libraries. (Some of my more favorite images submitted to my Photo Library, have been rejected. That being the case, I submitted those images to other Photo Libraries and they were accepted in many cases.
  5. Therefore, if one Photo Library rejects photos don’t give up, just resubmit those images to other Photo Libraries—Where one Photo Library finds no value in your photos, others may, so diversify your Stock Library Photography business. If ARCANGEL rejects my photos, then I can try submitting them to EyeEm or GettyImages, or many others.
  6. ☆ You need to carefully read the Terms of your Contract to see what you can do with rejected photos. Sometimes, Accepted photos can be submitted and used for uses that do not conflict or compete with your Stock Photography Library.
  7. Rejected Photographs don’t mean your photographs are no good—well, it could mean that, but a lot of times, it means the photos do not meet the style of photos needed by particular Stock Photo Libraries. ☆Thus, try not to be too discouraged.

As mentioned above, for my photograph file management, I’m presently using X-plore, Version 4.00.00.

There are several good file management apps for Android, but X-plore meets my personal requirements, and it has many options to manage files, plus it gives you access to your Cloud Storage Solutions, like OneDrive, GDrive, Dropbox, and many others.

As you can see, under my Arcangel folder, I have all the important folders needed to keep my image file organized.

Hi there.

Recently, I found out that my submissions of images for consideration to be sold through GettyImages, by way of EyeEm Photo Library, have been accepted. These images are for sale through GettyImages. That is interesting and good…

So, I guess if having some of my images in the GettyImages Photo Library, was on my “Bucket List”, or whatever, then I can cross it off my list. Now, to get my images SOLD by Getty, would be much cooler!

This is not a photography or art post. I just made an Art Photography post, so please see my earlier post if you want to see my Art Photography.

The WordPress Android App Could Be Improved

Over all, I am satisfied with the WordPress Android app. It does what I need it to do: It allows me to conveniently create blog posts quickly, and then, to publish my blog posts without much hassle.

Creating and publishing posts is not my concern about any improvements that could be made with the WordPress Android App.

My concern is this…When I go to the “Freshly Pressed” option, the most recent blog posts from people I follow come up–OK, that’s fine…BUT IT ISN’T FINE!

MOST OF THE PEOPLE WHO I FOLLOW, NEVER VISIT MY BLOGS!  And, to be honest, I don’t follow many of the blogs of people I follow.  That is just how things work when being a member of a blog site like WordPress.  At least, that is how it works with me.

* I don’t want to have blog posts from people I am not really interested in, coming up FIRST, on the screen.  At least I’m being honest.

I WANT to see the recent blog posts from people who I INTERACT WITH THE MOST at WordPress, AND PEOPLE WHO TAKE THE TIME TO READ MY BLOG POSTS–Those are the blog posts I want to see.

Why the hell do I NEVER see any blog posts, in the “Freshly Pressed” scrolling list, of the blogs that I really want to see?

* I want to see in the “Freshly Pressed” scrolling list, the blog posts of people who visit my blog, who “Like” my posts, and who leave comments about my posts. I want to see the blog posts of my WordPress acquaintances and friends. Why is it, that it is so difficult to see the blogs of the people who visit my blog posts?

YES! There are actually a few people who always see my blog posts, AND I APPRECIATE THESE PEOPLE, their “LIKES”, and their “Comments”.

Considering that there is technology to track visits to specific website pages, why not add some sort of technology, or algorithm, to the WordPress Android App, to keep track of specific people’s visits to blog posts?

For example, Person X visits Blog Y, more than anyone else, so add that person to Blog Y’s “Biggest Fan’s” database. Person Z visits Blog Y, second most often, and so on and so forth. THEN, when you go to the App’s Freshly Pressed, “Biggest Fan’s” Option, ALL of your blogging friends come up showing their most recent blog posts.

I think this would be a GREAT addition to the WordPress Android App! I would really like to have a convenient way to see the blog posts of the people who follow my blog posts, the most. I want to return the favor, and see what work they are doing. Without an option like that, the one mentioned above, I can scroll the “Freshly Pressed” blogs for 10 minutes before I come to someone who I recognize–someone who regularly follows my blog, and having to scroll forever, that is frustrating to say the least.

WordPress, Please add an option to your Android App, in the “Freshly Pressed” section, to SEE THE BLOGS OF PEOPLE WHO FOLLOW ME/YOU, AND LIKE MY/YOUR POSTS, THE MOST….if that all makes sense. To me, I like convenience when possible, because life is difficult enough without having WordPress Android App options being difficult.

Collection Description:

This Collection is Still Life Photography, designed while walking around Penang. To be more specific, this photography is essentially ENVIRONMENTAL STILL LIFE PHOTOGRAPHY. It is a record of capturing serendipity as it presents itself to me, as I go around Penang, to photograph. The subjects are colors—paints of abstract designs interacting with environmental objects, like tree leaves, water puddles, rain drops, dry and cracked dirt, colourful rocks, and anything that catches my attention and presents itself as good still life subjects.

Part 2, Flickr under SmugMug, some “interesting” terms.

I mentioned in my previous post, on Flickr Users now having to exist under the rules of SmugMug, or you can also choose to delete your account (before a certain date)….soon.

Here is the text from an email from Flickr, regarding dates by which Flickr users need to download their files if they wish to delete their accounts:

We think you are going to love Flickr under SmugMug ownership, but you can choose to not have your Flickr account and data transferred to SmugMug until May 25, 2018. If you want to keep your Flickr account and data from being transferred, you must go to your Flickr account to download the photos and videos you want to keep, then delete your account from your “Account Settings” by May 25, 2018.

I just wanted to point out any interesting changes that I see in the Terms and Conditions.

Please Note: I’m neither a legal expert, nor an expert of the Previous / old Flickr Terms & Conditions, so perhaps there isn’t much of a change in the way you can use Flickr/FlickrSmugMug, now. In other words, do your own due diligence and DON’T take my word for any of this. If you are a Flickr user and are concerned about your membership, please seek out knowledgeable experts on Contracts and Terms and Conditions legal…..stuff, or whatever you call this type of agreement between you, the Photographer, and some giant corporation.

⊙ But, I wanted to note two subsections under Section B, of the new FlickrSmugMug Terms & Conditions, which may, or may not, help me decide to delete my Flickr account, soon.

Here are a couple of things I knew as facts about Flickr, and its usage, for as many, many years that I have been a member there.

1) You could either be a Free Member and have 1 Terabyte Storage for life (basically), and NOT HAVE TO GIVE THE COMPANY ANY PAYMENT OPTION DETAILS! (i.e. You did NOT have to give Flickr any Visa, MC, or PayPal information.) You could just use the Flickr services for Free as long as you abide by the rules.

2) You could pay for a “Pro membership” and get better stuff. I have no idea if you signed up as a Pro Flickr member, if in the Terms, it previously said anything about Automatically Renewing memberships: For example, the Company would automatically try to receive payment from your payment source—I don’t know IF that was the case with, let’s call it, “Old Flickr”.

I think that long ago, when I had a Pro Membership at Old Flickr, if you did not want to renew your Pro account, it simply expired and you were demoted to Free membership…but I can’t guarantee that was exactly how it worked in the old days of Flickr.

However, now, it appears that memberships with the new FlickrSmugMug have changed at least a little bit, if I am reading subsections 2 and 3 of Part B, properly. You interpret it for yourselves.

That last sentence under 2 is very vague, “Flickr may offer you the ability to register for a Subscription directly without the need to participate in a Free Trial.” It sounds like you may be able to purchase a “Pro” subscription without taking advantage of the Free trial period, but it is up to FlickrSmugMug’s discretion.

“2. Free Trials

When you first register for the Flickr Pro Services, Flickr may offer you the ability to use the Flickr Pro Services without charge for a limited trial period (a “Free Trial”). The duration of a Free Trial will be the number of days specified by Flickr at the time of your registration for such Free Trial. You need to provide Flickr (or our applicable third party payment processor) with valid Payment Information and select a Subscription Plan in order to register for a Free Trial. At the conclusion of your Free Trial, you will be charged for the Subscription Fee applicable to your selected Subscription Plan unless you elect to cancel your Flickr Pro Services account prior to the expiration of your Free Trial. Flickr may offer you the ability to register for a Subscription directly without the need to participate in a Free Trial.

3. Subscription Plans

Flickr offers a variety of Subscription Plans designed to reflect the diverse needs of our users, each with its own features, descriptions, functionality and terms with respect to the use of the Services. A description of each Subscription Plan that is currently offered by Flickr is available at By purchasing a Subscription, (i) you agree to pay all applicable Subscription Fees and other charges in accordance with your selected Subscription Plan, pursuant to the renewal and termination provisions described below (including any applicable taxes, such as sales tax), and (ii) you agree that you are only entitled to the features and services applicable to the Subscription Plan that you select at the time you purchase a Subscription.

The Flickr Pro Services are intended to be used by Flickr users for the distribution and sharing of photos and/or videos, as permitted under the user’s applicable Subscription Plan. Flickr, at its sole discretion, reserves the right to limit, suspend or terminate your use of the Flickr Pro Services if Flickr determines that you have violated these Flickr Pro Services Terms or the Terms of Use.”

☆ At , it looks like you can still have a completely Free account with the 1000GB of storage, and limited options, which seems not to have changed.

Is it worth it to have a “Pro” membership under the new FlickrSmugMug relationship? I don’t know. I didn’t think it was necessary under the “Old Flickr” company, so I probably won’t miss having a “Pro” membership under the new FlickrSmugMug connection. However, it all depends on your personal Internet Photography, business/hobby storage, display, sharing needs. It could be right for you. Nevertheless, read the Terms and Conditions carefully before committing to any online photography photo storage/exhibition/sharing, platform.

Could I recommend any other online Photo Sharing sites?

I’m not that enthusiastic about any photo sharing sites, really. The good thing about Flickr is / was the ginormous amount of space (one terabyte) and the ability to retrieve photo files easily. Other than that, EyeEm is a decent photo sharing and stock library option.

The problem with Stock Photography now, in my opinion, is that almost everyone-and-their-dog, is a Royalty Free Stock Photographer, and so there are probably 9,999,999,999,999 stock photos available online now (just a guess), and it is damned hard to get your small batch (100, 200, 500, 1,000, etc.) of photos seen by buyers, and sold (at a worthy price).

I mainly just like WordPress Blogging, and exhibiting my work on my blogs.

The End!

Flickr has sold-out to SmugMug?

So, Yahoo is hemorrhaging out its photo franchise to SmugMug….Joy.

Back in the Day…Flickr was cool. I even had a paid membership long ago. I even founded a Flickr Group, called NEBRASKA PHOTOGRAPHERS GROUP, and I still manage it, and I add new members when necessary, but I hardly ever add photos to Flickr, and I only add new photos to my group IF, I add photos to Flickr.

Flickr’s one great benefit was the one terabyte storage for free!

SmugMug has been around forever, too. However, there must have been very good reasons for me NEVER TO HAVE CONSIDERED SmugMug, for anything….ever!

The Affect on Flickr Users?

Thus, how will this affect us Flickr users? Will our groups remain intact? Will our follower base remain? Will our Collections remain? Will Flickr, as SmugMug, remain free? Will Flickr users still have one terabyte of space?

At this point…I don’t know. I DON’T have the energy right now to read a lot of convoluted legalese. It is on my To’Do List.

Smug, and, Mug?

I’ve ALWAYS hated the term, “SmugMug”. To me, that brings back too many visions, of the faces of, total jackasses who are arrogant pricks. So, when I hear the the words, smug and mug, together, I think of total jackasses and arrogant pricks. Maybe that is the reason I was never fond of that online photo sharing option.

I suppose I will read up on this “wonderful” merger, and if I see anything ridiculous about it, I will let you know.

Flickr users do have the option to download their photo files, and then delete their accounts, but I’m sure there is a deadline for that.

Good luck. Choose wisely.

Despair, Emotional Trauma, Lesson Received!

You f’ing idiot!

Make a backup of your entire SD card inside your phone or tab, EVERY NIGHT!

So, you may have found out that I’m not good or happy today…endure adversity!

Yeah, f’that!

Enduring adversity is not going to magically make about 7GB of photos, audios, videos, and documents come back into existence. Why the Fúçķ did I not backup my entire SD card to an external HD?!? There’s no need to think about it…fairy dust isn’t going to get my digital files to magically materialise.

The Lesson

EVERY NIGHT BACK-UP YOUR SD CARD THAT IS IN YOUR TAB OR PHONE. Shit Happens, and it happens more so for some of us, than others. So IF your phone miraculously self-melts-down your SD card files, and they completely disappeared, and NO app to reconstruct your SD file system, works, and your only option is to format your SD card, then YOU BETTER F’ING HOPE YOU MADE A BACK-UP, OR BETTER YET, REDUNDANT BACK-UPS!!! SO WHAT, if it takes some time, it will be worth it, especially when you least expect a file system crash, and you’re standing there and pulling out your hair by the handfuls!

What a mess!

I can’t even remember all of the important things on my SD card…but there was, and now, it is all gone.

I know I uploaded some of my latest art photographs to my cloud storage, but not everything.

I had new photographs to work with, and no backups of them, so they are TOTALLY lost. Some of my newest photographs are still on my camera, as NEF files; however, I will need to process all of those NEF files again—that will be a necessary, but waste of time. It is a waste because the files were already processed that way I wanted them processed—now I need to do a rerun.

So in the End…

I DON’T see any good in this episode of this new disaster in my life. Of course, I’ll have to “endure this adversity” but there is NO good that has come out of this. The self-help gurus who preach their lessons of self-improvement, may say, “Oh no, this is actually a good thing, you will grow with understanding and self-awareness and you have learned an important lesson“.

I say: “Holy F! How the hell could I have been so f’ing stupid to not redundantly back-up my SD Card! Why oh why do you do such imbecilic bullshit that causes pain and agony? I need some painkillers….my head is f’ing killing me, and now, I have to reconstruct as much as I can, of my SD card, but most of my most important files are fairy dust now, and flying out into the ether of the digital universe, or Matrix…. Oh Crap!!!”

The End…

We Do the Work, To Do the Art, And Aim for Perfection!

Behind the Lens

Brooks Jensen once said something like,

“We do the work, to do the art, not for any particular financial reward, even though that is important, but because the creative must do the work, with the aim to attain excellence.” (I am paraphrasing, and hope I came close to Jensen’s general idea.)

At first, when I heard him say that, I disagreed—slightly.

I was thinking, we spend all the time doing the artwork, to naturally advance our profession, and as any business venture, to make a profit—that is the reason people have businesses, to make profits.

Yes, making money from all of our hard work creating paintings, jewellery, sculptures, or photographs, is important. It is ESSENTIAL to make money to survive.

Needing to make a profit—I think that is something that most people do not understand about professional and freelance artisans.

We Do the Work, To Do the Art, And Aim for Perfection!

Yes, making money from all of our hard work creating paintings, jewellery, sculptures, or photographs, is important. It is ESSENTIAL to make money to survive.

Needing to make a profit—I think that is something that most people do not understand about professional and freelance artisans.

We, LIKE EVERYONE ELSE, need to make money, to make profits from our hard work, our products, and our services. My products are my art-photographs and I REALLY NEED PEOPLE TO PURCHASE FINE ART PRINTS OR GALLERY-QUALITY PHOTOGRAPHIC CANVASES— WHY don’t people understand this simple concept? I need people to hire me and pay me my required services’ fee for whatever photography job is required—WHY don’t people understand the Art Business Sector? It’s similar to all the rest—we all do work with the expectation of being paid for products delivered, or services rendered: Correct!?!

☆ Do Doctor’s work for free? No! Do Electricians work for free? No! Do Plumbers work for free? NO! So why does the general public often feel like Photographers should work for free, or for peanuts? It is ridiculous!

YES! All Artisans work toward perfection in their creations, and profits are not the most important aspect in the creation of artworks; nevertheless, making profits from your hard work, and creating artworks to be sold, is essential to your survival as a businessperson.

THUS, aim for perfection in all your artwork creations; however, NEVER UNDERCUT your value, or you will soon not have a business.

Sammael, Headshot , Fire Portraits by Nawfal

Title: “Sammael, Headshot”.

Creation Date: 16 April 2018.
“Fire Portraits” Series.
Series Years: 2017 – 2018.

Influence: “To Reign in Hell” novel by Steven Brust.

Art Photographs: Photography of fire shaped into Portrait-like imagery, of the characters, angels, in “To Reign in Hell”, written by Steven Brust.

Note 1: After doing the first art photo, I said to myself, “I’m seeing some faces from Brust’s novel in this image, and I need to investigate, and work this out further to see what develops.”

Note 2: One very interesting aspect of Brust’s story is that all of the angels were essentially good until a conflict and deception arose among the angels. On top of that, the three “evil” angels in the story ( evil according to many ‘modernised’ views…modern being several thousand years for Satan/Lucifer/Devil, and hundreds for Mephisto ) — Satan and Lucifer are the same entity, and Mephistopheles is the name invented for the historical Johann Georg Faust (c. 1480–c. 1540), and in demonology, Mephistopheles was “one of the seven chief devils and the tempter of Faust”. Nevertheless, in Brust’s story, Satan and Lucifer are “First-Borns”, and Mephistopheles is an archangel, not devils or demons.

Note 3: My Brust angels are a contradiction because they are made of fire. Angels, “fallen” or not, made of fire, I think is a contradiction.

4) Sammael is a fallen archangel, and the Lord of Destruction. Some think this was Lucifer’s original name.

Samael is often confused with Satan because he often has grim and destructive duties. He is often considered a fallen angel, like Satan and the chief of the evil spirits. One of Samael’s roles in Jewish beliefs is that of the Angel of Death. In this belief, he is a fallen angel but remains one of the Lord’s servants. As a good angel, Samael supposedly lives in the seventh heaven, although he is said to be the chief angel of the fifth heaven. [

Confidence and Being a Photo Stock Library Photographer

How to Keep My Confidence Level at Least Above the 50% Line, is actually a “Little Bit” Difficult for Me, when considering my Escapades in the Realms of Stock Photography.

I never considered my style of Photography, as very Stock Photography suitable.

However, I am a Photographer for a reputable Rights’ Managed, International Stock Library…no need to mention the name. I really respect their business model because they fight to get proper fees for Photographers for Rights’ Managed imagery.

Nonetheless, because my photographic style is “quite abstract”, many of my image submissions are rejected. I had calculated at one time, that about 80% of my photo submissions were rejected—I’m not sure of the reasons, but it would be for either content, or quality issues with the images…or both.

I think that the picky Library policy is good…it is fine…the Library can keep their photo collections at a high level if they are picky about what they accept.

I must consider one thing, my image rejection percentage does absolutely nothing for my Confidence Level, in fact, being who I am, I would say that my Confidence goes down.

And worse yet, I would calculate that my more recent statistics would place me more into the 95% rejection level. And that, my friends does absolutely NOTHING to help my Confidence regarding my work, or my desire to do “Photo-Library” intended work.

It is very troubling for me to feel like all my efforts are wasted, when considering the time it takes to photograph, create, edit, and submit my images to the Library, when there is a 95% chance of rejection. It is kind of like getting slapped in the face every time you do a certain thing, but you do it again anyway, because you think you may get lucky and be accepted…but, in the end you get slapped in the face once again. BUT YOU TRY IT AGAIN AND AGAIN and … AGAIN, and most of the time you end up with one side of your face, or the other, stinging, and apparently, not learning from some mystical lesson that never quite reveals itself to you.

Wow! So what to do?

How the Fúçķ would I know — I’m the guy who keeps repeating the same mistakes and expecting different results. Isn’t that the definition of being a “Crazoid“?

I hope I am not a Crazoid, just because I am being persistent!

So…Oh well, I will continue to submit new photographs to my Stock Library, even though I know that my style may not be “Hip”, or “Cool” Enough, or fit the standard Stock Library cookie cutter shapes and sizes.

Maybe I just suck as a Photographer! I’m still thinking that I may be trapped in some hell-dimension, AI Matrix, or something to that effect.

All I know for sure is that personally, my photo rejection level does completely nothing to help my Confidence Level as a Stock Photography Contributor.

Maybe all of this rejection is supposed to be good for me, LMAOBT! If so, then someone please impart some wisdom to me.

Yeah….so honestly, I don’t think my Photo Stock Library, Photographer, Confidence Level, will be over the 50% line….hardly ever. I don’t like to have false promises, and then, to have them crash all around me. I’m more of a realist, and I see how things are, how the world (of Photography) works, and so I may just need to learn to live with the difficulties of being a Photographer for a Stock Library: I am NOT happy with so much rejection in my life, but that is the reality I face.

☆ Here’s a video showing some of my rejected images.

☆☆[ Please keep in mind that the photographs in this video are low-resolution, cropped screenshots, so DO NOT IMMEDIATELY come to the conclusion that, “Yeah, this guy really does suck as a Photographer — No wonder most of his photographs are rejects — What a Total Buffoon!”
