A Rant

Fire Portraits Series

“Belial, Transmografication #7” is the newest of my “Fire Portraits Series” photographs, and Number 60 in the series.  I started this series in 2016, after reading Steven Brust’s great novel, “To Reign in Hell“, written in 1984:  DAMN…I can’t believe I didn’t know about this book way back then—Brust published this story the same year I started university.  I was reading many Sci-Fi and mythological stories at that time, mainly, Isaac Asimov, Frank Herbert, Robert Heinlein, Anne Inez McCaffrey, Larry Niven, and Ray Bradbury.   I’m just surprised I had no clue about an author who wrote a really original masterpiece about a war between the angels, and how Satan, Lucifer, Mephistopheles, Lilith, and others, became the “fallen angels”, kicked to the curb, and exiled into the abyss—Hell.

Anyway, Brust’s story was the influence for my Fire Portraits Series.

Belial, is one of the “First-Born” angels, and is a Regent of one of the corners of heaven.

From the illiaster came consciousness that resulted in the firstborn angels: Yaweh, Satan, Michael, Lucifer, Raphael, Leviathan and Belial.  (Source:  To Reign in Hell, Wikipedia).

Belial, half-mad and trapped in the form of a dragon, rules the Northern Regency.  (Source:  To Reign in Hell, Wikipedia).

Whenever I design a new Fire Portraits image, and it looks like a dragon, I will attribute it as a new transmografication of Belial—this is number seven.
