“It wasn’t until after I designed the first 11 photographs in this series that I realized something very powerful about these images. There are big elements (relative to the other elements), and then small elements, and then tiny elements, and then, even smaller and smaller particles in the photographs, and all of the elements interconnect. Therefore, there is the placement of the bigger parts to create the sense of colour-field, fields, or partitions, and then there are all the particles that overlap and intermix with the larger parts in the photos.”

I just took another left-hand turn here and I’m posting one of my PENANG TREES images. Well, I guess anything can happen nowadays, including the way I post images: I see something that I want to work on and it happens, even if it means interrupting what I was doing already.

Well, I tend to bounce around topics:  I guess I am not so good at transitional materials.  This is quite a shift, going from modernized architecture photography to macro objects photography.

The question I always want to ask myself when I look at this art piece is this: “Who made these footprints in the sand?” Then, I’m led to the question: “Where is this?” Because this is part of my “OFF WORLD – ALIEN LANDSCAPES” Photographic Art Series, then, I ask myself, “The footprints appear human-like, but this is somewhere else…some other planet, so what do these people, aliens…creatures really look like?” “Is this a beach, or is this some rocky desert-planet that has been abandoned by its inhabitants?” Of course, I am asking that you use your imagination, and that requires you to ask questions for yourself about what you see.

LOCATION: All of the trees in this Series were photographed in Penang, Malaysia – on the Island. Many of the trees I photographed are around Anson Road, which has some of my favorite trees. Yeah, I guess I do have some favorite trees: I am drawn to the ‘hugeness’ of these tropical trees, and how the branches twist and turn creating natural abstractions. These are the things I love about these trees, and wish to photograph for this Series.
