MUCH LESS COMPUTER TIME MY FRIENDS…

Hello my Friends!

I have much less computer time now, unfortunately.

Because my trusty computer had died, some time ago, I was borrowing a computer from my niece for the last couple of months.  I am very grateful to my niece.  However, she now needed her computer back to do some work.  Now, I am computer’less.  Well, not totally without computer – I am needing to share a computer with my daughters, and I have very little time (I have a scheduled time).  My scheduled time gives me little time to even work on designing new artworks.  I have been doing more physical paintings because I have not been using the computer.  Nevertheless, I have little time to photograph and edit the paintings in the morning, when I prefer to photograph my paintings.  The light is best in the morning.  However, if I take time to photograph my paintings, I lose my computer time, which is scheduled from 7am until 10am.  You see…I have very little computer time now.  It takes me two and a half hours just to reply to emails, respond to LinkedIn comments, compliments, and or complaints (there’s always someone wanting to complain about something or other).  Now, I have less time to upload new images to imagekind or backup (upload) files to the cloud.  I can assure you that three hours is NOT enough time to get much computer, or design time done with only three hours use of the computer.  Well, here is a stormy picture to accompany this post, as I’m feeling very stormy.  Sorry if I cannot have enough time to see many of your new posts, I’ll try to see when I have time.

– Personally, I dislike having a Personal Facebook Page – I think it is incredibly intrusive.  However, to have Facebook Promotional / Business Pages, you first have to have a Personal Page. If I could delete my personal page, yet keep my Business Pages, I would do that in a heartbeat!

Note: This is a detailed art photograph from the original acrylic painting titled, “3-DAYS IN AUGUST”, which I painted in 2004 – 10-years ago (almost). The entire work is very detailed, so I decided to photograph and design art images from the original painting. This particular piece sits to the right of me, at my desk’s location, hanging on the wall. I cleaned it (dust and cat fluff 🙂 ), and photographed the painting in detail, and that is what the “3-DAYS IN AUGUST DETAILS” Series is about. The title of the painting is just what it means: I painted the original artwork over a 3-day span, in August 2004.

My main influence is Jackson Pollock.

This work is about chaos: and it is probably the most expressive work of my feelings to this very date.

There are certain words and phrases that express my feelings and are shown in this work, they include: ‘lost’, ‘entanglement’, ‘trapped’, ‘shrouded’, ‘forgotten’, ‘chaos-overbearing’, ‘pain’, ‘a web so thick it hides me’, ‘tolerated but only by a thread’, ‘looked-over’, ‘invisible’, ‘stuck’, ‘is it all in my mind’, ‘am I the cause’, ‘is my perception of reality the thing that is really f’ed up!, ‘no-one really cares to understand me’, ‘untouchable’, ‘unforgivable’, ‘totally forgettable’, ‘not fitting in’, and ‘it’s between me and God at this point!’

The Abstract Expressionists were a group of brilliant artists, but many were on the extremes of one obsession or another, and many were very unhappy: I’m not saying that all of the Abstract Expressionists were unhappy, but there were some tragic episodes that happened within the group, namely, Rothko, Gorky, Pollock (Existential Suicide), and Resnick. 50% of the group (the famous NEW YORK SCHOOL) ,seven of the 15, were dead before the age of 60. “Depression may have put these artists in touch with the inexplicable mystery that lies at the heart of the “tragic and timeless” art that the Abstract Expressionists aspired to produce.”

This work is a combination of painting and photography, which is the case with most (many) of my recent works.

This genre of work is deep. It is about the human condition. It is about the soul at its core. It will not appeal to everyone.

Fashion and beautiful women seem to capture the eyes of most people, and anyone can clearly see that at FB, Flickr, or on any other photo-sharing website: All you need to do to see what appeals to visitors of photo-sharing websites is just start counting the number of “Likes” and “Comments” and it becomes very clear what subjects seem to be the favourites, and what people visiting these sites seem to believe makes for ‘good’ photography, or artwork.  It is a ‘perception-thing’, but of course!

However, this is not about Fashion, people-beauty, nature-beauty, or about ‘the surface’ — this work goes beyond the surface — the work of the Abstract Expressionists was not about “the now” so much as it was about “the forever” — conditions that will affect mankind throughout the ages, and expressing those deepest feelings through art.

I guess that is my Art Lesson for the day on “Abstract Expressionism”, and in a way, a lesson about my latest collection of work, the ABSTRACT PAINTED PHOTOGRAPHIC ART.

Photograph Information:
This image is from the “ARTIFICIAL VISUAL INTELLIGENCE” Series, by NAWFAL JOHNSON, and the Title is: “Artificial Visual Intelligence, No.1, Edit B.”
Art Genres: Abstract Expressionism Photography; Modernism; and, Expressionism.
Beginning Creation Date for the AVI Series: 12 March 2014.

AVI Description:
This is not so much a description, rather, it is a question asked: What would it be like to see only in Abstract Expressionism? It may seem like heaven to the die-hard Abstract Expressionists; however, it may prove difficult when it comes time to do the normal things that people do during a normal day. However, it would be possible to create robots that only see in Abstract Expressionism. When the robots look at every single different scene in nature, or every person, the image comes up as an Abstract Expressionistic scene. Perhaps, we could plug into the eyes of these robots and see what they see as they look around. It would be like watching an Abstract Expressionistic movie. The images in this series are still images, I imagine, from one of these Abstract Expressionistic movies.
